As the “Month of Story” continues, I head out west this week to talk with the Executive Director of the West Big Data Hub, Meredith Lee. Meredith was a Science and Technology Fellow here in DC, worked at the Department of Homeland Security, and led the White House Innovation for Disaster Response and Recovery Initiative under President Obama. She also co-founded the co-founded NationOfMakers.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping makers by supporting maker organizations.

In this week’s episode, Meredith and I talk about her work at the West Big Data Hub and her various projects, conferences, and convenings she has run and continues to run. Continuing the Month of Story, we also talk about the upcoming Science of Data-Driven Storytelling Workshop, what exactly storytelling means in that context, and whether scientists actually tell stories with their data.
