Welcome back to the PolicyViz Podcast! I’m taking a bit of a turn on the show. Instead of talking with people directly creating visualizations or building visualization tools, I talk to two people working in the field of education research and the challenges they face finding and using high-quality data.

So on this week’s show, I speak to Beth Akers from the Brookings Institution and Matt Chingos from the Urban Institute, authors of the new book, Game of Loans: The Rhetoric and Reality of Student Debtin which they talk about the perceived student loan crisis. Importantly, we talk about the data issues they face when looking at this important topic–where the data are and aren’t, and their policy recommendations to improve the way the federal government collects and reports those data.
