Welcome back to the PolicyViz Podcast! After a lovely summer break, I’m back with new episodes focusing on data, data visualization, and presentation skills. I’m slowing things down a bit this year and going to an every-other-week format. Still on Tuesdays, but I’m just slowing down slightly.

To help me kick off the fourth season of the podcast, I’m very excited to be joined by Hilary Mason from Cloudera. Hilary the Founder of Fast Forward Labs, a machine intelligence research company, and the Data Scientist in Residence at Accel. She was also the Chief Scientist at bitly and co-founded HackNY. Hilary has received a few honors, like the TechFellows Engineering Leadership award, and was on the Forbes 40 under 40 Ones to Watch list and Crain’s New York 40 under Forty list. She has also been in Glamour, the WSJ, Fast Company, Scientific American, and more, which has made my mother very happy.

In this episode, Hilary and I talk about her work on data science in organizations, her new work on data ethics, and being optimistic.
