Len Kiefer is the Deputy Chief Economist at the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, better known, as Freddie Mac. Freddie Mac is the government sponsored enterprise that helps keep mortgage money flowing to home buyers and home owners, across America.

In his Twitter feed, Len focuses on issues surrounding the US economy and the housing market, and his data visualizations provide great insight to those issues. He primarily uses R and he provides tutorials and lessons on his personal website. In this week’s episode of the podcast, Len and I talk about the data visualization culture at Freddie Mac, his love of R, and some of the more interesting data and findings he’s uncovered.

In case you’re interested, I’m hosting a full-day data visualization workshop at the Urban Institute in Washington, DC on Tuesday, February 13. Use the coupon code ‘podcast’ to receive 10% off your registration fee.
