I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be holding a special, two-day data visualization workshop on November 6th and 7th here in Washington, DC.

Over the past year or so, I have taught a number of public data visualization workshops. The workshops provide participants with an overview of the field, an introduction to best practices and strategies, and a primer to design and programming techniques.

I have found that many students want to take what they have learned in my workshops a bit further: they want to make graphics and learn some specific tools. Therefore, this time around I am working with two partners to offer a second day that will introduce participants to the Tableau and R software packages.

My hope is that by the end of this two-day workshop, students will be familiar with how to identify and make great, effective graphics. If you’re interested in content for only one of the two days, I am also accepting single-day registrations. For more information, and how to register, visit the PolicyViz Workshop page.
